PBC Blog 01/28/2010 Update

Update for 01/28/2010

Last night at youth group we had 33 people there for the second week in a row. We talked about the second half of Joseph's life from Genesis 42-50 again learning lessons from the life of Joseph. The three lessons that we learned from Joseph's life are:

1. Do not repay evil with evil – we also see this lesson reflected in the teachings of the New Testament (1 Peter 3:9 and Romans 12:17)

2. God is in control and He is always with us

3. We should forgive those who have wronged us – again a theme we see throughout the New Testament (Matthew 6:12-15 and Luke 17:3-4)

Looking at the life of Joseph has been illuminating and there are many lessons we can learn and apply to our lives from this story. Remember the PBC youth is reading through the One Year Bible and the lessons that are being taught each week will be primarily from the Bible reading for that week. It is not too late to start reading the One Year Bible, a daily reading schedule can be found online at: http://www.oneyearbibleonline.com/readingplan/oneyearbiblereadingplan.pdf

This past weekend was a fun one for PBC youth. We went to a lock-in all nighter at the Lexington Ice Center and spent much of the night ice skating, playing basketball, and also playing broom ball (which was really fun and the favorite part of the night for many of us, for those who did not play you really missed out on a lot of fun). We had a great time at the ice skating rink though and if they do it again next year we will surely be back!

February is going to be another busy month for the PBC youth, which is the way we like it! The February calendar and explanation of the events have already been posted on this blog so there is no need to reiterate it. However, just so you know you can get the calendar of events on the PBC youth blog!!

Finally, we have a confirmed 28 people who are signed up for camp this year in Greenville, South Carolina!! There are still spots available so if anyone else in interested in attending camp please contact me (Derek Trout) as soon as possible so we can make sure you get to go! I am sure that camp will be a great time and we are really looking forward to it already.

Last night was a great night at youth group, however, we did not have any new people attend. This means that ya'll need to start asking more and more of your friends to come to youth group. They won't know what they are missing out on until you tell them!!

May God bless you all!!
